Who We Are

Company History

Our company traces its origins to 1984 offering Construction Management along with General Contractor services in the commercial construction community.


Phoenix Contractors now handles an average of 50 construction and renovation projects per year. This has added up to over 2,00 completed projects during the company’s 40-year history.


Located in Southeastern Michigan, Phoenix Contractors, Inc.,  have earned the community’s respect as high-quality service providers through our consistent hard work and conscientious attention to details. Our success is attested to by the continued business our clients entrust to us, as well as the many personal and project awards our company and employees have received.

Meet Our Staff

President

Mark W. Hiser

Owner and President, Phoenix Contractors

Mark Hiser joined Phoenix Contractors in 1996. Today, as president and owner of our firm, he works to ensure our on-time, within-budget completion of construction projects for clients in the transportation, commercial, retail, service, health care, residential, public, religious, academic, and industrial arenas, among others.


Mark’s fine work has been recognized over the years with several Pyramid Award for “Best Project Team” from the Washtenaw Contractors Association (WCA). He has also been honored with a Design & Construction Showcase Award and several AIA Awards with Huron Valley and Detroit. Part of his success in ownership can be attributed to his hands on nature, he is a leader by example in every sense of the phrase.


Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from Eastern Michigan University in 1986. He has served as a curricular advisory board member at EMU, an industrial relation committee member and education committee member for the American General Contractors Association, and an education committee member for the Washtenaw Contractors Association.


PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Brian S. Wright

Senior Project Manager

Brian Wright has been with Phoenix Contractors since 1998. His skills in project management and estimating have driven our success in construction and renovation projects for stores, office suites, corporate headquarters, professional services firms, schools, clinics, churches, recreational facilities, public markets, and more.


Brian’s work in managing the renovation of The Racquet Club of Ann Arbor earned this praise from the client: “Brian is a fantastic person to work with. At times he seemed to work miracles. Our project was finished a week ahead of schedule.”


In 2021, Brian was recognized with the Nelson Vanderhagen Award by the Washtenaw Contractors Association.  This award exemplifies the high standards of professionalism and commitment to the improvement of the construction industry in Washtenaw County.


Brian studied business management at Lansing Community College. He has served the Washtenaw Contractors Association in various capacities, including as a member of the organization’s board of directors.


JOEY HISER

Project Manager, Safety Director

Joey Hiser has been with Phoenix Contractors, Inc., Since 2019 and is a graduate from Eastern Michigan University.  Joey was a defensive back for the EMU Eagles and made two bowl appearances in his four years with the eagles.  Joey is an accomplished project manager and is the safety director for the company as well. 


Joey is an area leader in project management and has worked closely with several clients including Chelsea Schools, Ypsilanti Public Library, H&R Block, Wayne State University, Food Gathers and The University of Michigan.  Joey is also a graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.




NOAH D. HISER

Project Manager, Secretary of Construction, EEO


Noah Hiser has been with Phoenix Contractors, Inc., Since 2010  and is a graduate from Hillsdale College.  Noah played Wide Receiver for the Hillsdale Chargers and is also a two-time All American 400m sprinter for the Chargers Mens Track Team.  Noah began his tenure with Phoenix as a summer laborer and has become a leader in project management. 


Today Noah serves as Secretary of Construction for the company as well EEO officer.  Noah is the 2024 WCA's Rising Star Award Recipient and  WCA's 2023 Pyramid Award Winner "Best Project Team."   Noah is also an IAP Board Member for the Washtenaw Contractors Association and a graduate of the WCA's Emerging Professionals In Construction program.


Noah is an award winning project leader and has managed projects through out the area for many clients including, The University of Michigan Hospitals, Ann Arbor Public Schools, Ypsilanti Food Co-op, Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation, Washtenaw County Road Commission, Peace Neighbor, Dexter Schools, Chelsea Schools, Recycle Ann Arbor and Wolverine Pipeline.
